HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed that security, political and economic challenges facing the Middle East and the world require more coordination and consultation to address them.
Speaking during the opening of the fourth session of the joint ministerial committee between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency said that the two countries share similar views on many international and regional issues, stressing at the same time the continued participation in international and regional efforts to establish international security and stability, combat terrorism and settle disputes peacefully.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs hailed the deep bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkey in all fields and promoting them to levels that serve as a model for relations between countries, attributing that to the generous support given by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and President the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He said that these grown and deepened relations over the long decades between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples should be further developed and strengthened in light of the difficulties and challenges facing the region and the world.
"We reaffirm Qatar's determination to strengthen and develop fruitful cooperation mechanisms through the implementation of the signed agreements and memorandums of understanding and the agreements to be signed during the meeting of the supreme joint committee next month."
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that today's meeting is a preparatory meeting for the work of the supreme joint committee, which its previous meetings resulted in the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries in various fields that contributed to enhancing bilateral cooperation and establishing a strategic and complementary partnership in various scientific, political, economic, investment, development, cultural fields and others, in order to achieve common interests, while appreciating the outcome of the meetings of senior officials held in Ankara last month.
Concluding his speech, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani looked forward to continuing the achievements made at the previous session to promote joint bilateral work that reflects the nature and essence of these strategic relations, hoping that this meeting will be a success.
For his part, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu affirmed that Qatar and his country have a consensus view on many regional and international issues, describing the relations between the two countries as "very good".
His Excellency said the meeting will discuss ways of enhancing and developing bilateral relations as well as preparing for the meeting of the supreme joint committee, adding it will also discuss the mechanisms of implementing the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries and of signing more agreements, in addition to many bilateral, regional and international issues.
At the end of his speech, HE the Turkish Foreign Minister praised the depth of relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, terming the level of relations as a role model.
