Qatar Stresses Vigorous Efforts to Combat Terrorism and to Drain Its Sources of Funding

HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Combating Terrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution Dr Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani, stressed that the State of Qatar is making strong efforts in the fight against terrorism, and in drying its sources of funding through its active participation in the Global Coalition against ISIS, the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), and the Terror Financing Targeting Center (TFTC)
This came in a statement made by HE the Ambassador Dr Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani to Qatar News Agency (QNA), after chairing Qatars delegation to the Terror Financing Targeting Center meeting held in Kuwait earlier today. The meeting was held with the participation of all GCC countries as well as the United States of America.
His Excellency said that The State of Qatar participated actively in the meeting, which aimed to 1) identify, track, and share information regarding terrorist financial networks; 2) coordinate joint disruptive actions, and; 3) offer support to countries in the region that need assistance building capacity to counter terror funding threats.
HE Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Combating Terrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution said that todays discussions were positive, interactive and constructive. He expressed that Qatar's aspiration is to keep the positive debate ongoing and to achieve the common interests of the Gulf countries in the fight against terrorism and its financing.
