HE Secretary-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Hammadi, who is also member of the Qatari Compensation Claims Committee said that the Committee has received 2,945 individual cases from the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), noting that there are 600 files of traders in the Chamber of Commerce of Qatar.

In a statements to Al Jazeera TV Channel, HE Dr. Al-Hammadi added that the committee receives about 100-160 complaints and 60 calls a day, to sorted and referred to the competent local and international courts.

HE the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Compensation Claims Committee was formed on July 9, under the chairmanship of HE the Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri and membership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a member from the Ministry of Justice to consider the citizens compensation issue or bring cases to the competent domestic and international courts.

He also pointed out that the compensation committee was divided into three sections: the first is to examine citizens' complaints about violations of human rights or individual damage; and the second for traders who were affected by the closure of land, sea and air borders and third of government institutions affected by the blockade such as the Ministry of Economy and Qatari Aviation.

"We have contracted with law firms in Switzerland, Britain and the United States of America," said the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explaining that the State is responsible for the cases fees and lawyers' fees.

He said : "We are suing those who caused this damage. Suppose that the cause of the damage is a Saudi or Emirati company. We are suing this company and demanding compensation and pursuing it for execution either in the State or at the courts of their countries or at international courts.

He noted that the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) receives all complaints of affected individuals such as violations of human rights to raise them to international bodies for condemnation, denunciation and pressure on the countries of the blockade to respond to their demands.

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) supports the Compensation Claims Committee as a document before the courts, he said noting that both the NHRC and the Compensation Claims Committee receive requests, but the counting is done by the Compensation Claims Committee.

HE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the unjust siege imposed on the State of Qatar and the closure of the air, land and sea borders caused considerable material and moral damage to the citizens, adding that the damage was also caused to some institutions such as Qatar Airways and shipping companies.

"We have resorted to civil aviation organizations in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and he said, noting that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will decide on July 31 on Qatar's request for Qatar Airways to cross international airspace.

He said that the siege countries claim that they prevented Qatar Airways from crossing their airspaces on the basis of regional security, but the international law indicates that regional security should not distinguish between airlines and others and prevention must be imposed on all aviation and this is in the case of force majeure such as earthquakes or wars or through a UN Security Council resolution.
