Riyadh/Information Office /26 October 2014/The 12th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial committee for following up on joint action resolutions was held Sunday at the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh. The meeting was chaired by HE Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi and attended by GCC ministers responsible for implementing the joint action resolutions. Speaking at the outset of the meeting, Al Rumaihi said that the process of joint action has made great achievements for the benefit of the GCC countries' citizens, calling for more attention and follow-up to fulfil and find further prospects of the joint action. He pointed out that this would be only achieved through continuous work and exploring appropriate follow-up mechanisms to implement the decisions in order to attain the goals sought by their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC states. Al Rumaihi added that the committee represents a clear embodiment of the follow-up mechanism, highlighting its importance for the GCC joint action. In his remarks to the meeting, GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said that following-up the implementation of the GCC Supreme Council resolutions is a top priority for their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC states. At the 43th session of the GCC Supreme Council, which was held in Kuwait last December, the GCC leaders tasked the GCC Secretariat General to organize workshops on joint action resolutions in all Member States to inform the GCC countries' citizens on accomplishments and achievements being made in joint action field, and introduce them to their rights and duties towards those decisions, among others. Al Zayani praised the efforts being made by the GCC ministerial committee for following up on joint action resolutions, saying that these efforts are highly appreciated and are undertaken to speed up issuance of the required legislative tools to implement the resolutions.
