HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Sunday with HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Ayman Al-Safadi on the occasion of his visit to Qatar.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation ties between the two countries, especially the economic, trade and investment fields. They also discussed latest Arab, regional and international developments of common concern, particularly the efforts of resolving Yemeni and Libyan crises, supporting stability in Lebanon, and reaching a political solution for the Syrian crisis in conformity with the UN Security Council resolution No. 2254.

The two sides agreed to convene the joint higher committee between the two countries before the end of the current year to bolster cooperation in several fields of common concern.

The two parties hailed the growth in economic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and emphasized that they would proceed with developing it to achieve the shared interest of the two countries.

They also emphasized the continuation of coordination in Arab, Islamic, regional, and international issues of common concern, especially in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the importance of achieving calm and relaunching serious and effective negotiations to achieve just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with the approved references.

They underscored the importance of halting all Israeli illegal measures that undermine the two-state solution, as the only way to achieve just and comprehensive peace.

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan warned against the consequences of the deterioration and absence of political prospects, economic pressures in the occupied Palestinian territories, the persistent building and expansion of settlements by Israel, the confiscation of Palestinians' lands and evicting them from their homes, as well as the military operations against Palestinian cities.

In addition, they stressed the need for Israel to respect the existing historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem and stop all steps that target the alteration of this status, along with the criticality of the role of the Hashemites' historic custodianship of the holy sites and achieving Palestinian reconciliation and national unity.

In this context, Dr. Ayman Al-Safadi stressed the importance of the role undertaken by the State of Qatar and the support it provides to the Palestinian citizens in Gaza and to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
