Assistant Foreign Minister Meets UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met with HE United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, on the sidelines of the 52nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council, held in Geneva.
During the meeting, they discussed the cooperation relations with the State of Qatar and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the recent development in Palestine, and the violations against the Palestinian people in violation of international humanitarian law.
HE the Assistant Foreign Minister expressed the State of Qatar's aspiration for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to act seriously in combating the phenomenon of Islamophobia, and to take a clear and frank position on the incidents of burning the Holy Quran in a number of European countries, as a phenomenon that constitutes hate speech.
The meeting was attended by HE Director of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Turki bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud, and HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdul Rahman Al Muftah.
