Qatar Elected for Membership of Executive Council of OPCW

The State of Qatar has been elected for the membership of the Executive Council of the Organization of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) during the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties currently being convened in The Hague.
Such a step reflects the confidence of the international community, along with the international organizations in the constructive role undertaken by the State of Qatar in discharging the functions of The Hague-based organization.
In addition, the executive council which is composed of 41 members undertakes and executes the decisions and supervises the activities of the technical Secretariat of the organization, as well as its responsibility for strengthening the effective implementation of OPCW and compliance.
