Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed Mohammed Al Ansari underlined that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the meetings of the 31st Ordinary Session of the League of Arab States at the summit level, which were wrapped up Wednesday in Algiers of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, underscored the keenness of the State of Qatar- Government and People- and its full support to reunification, promotion of the joint Arab action to support the aspirations of the Arab peoples to stability, development, prosperity and the achievement of security and peace in the region.

In his statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Dr. Al Ansari said that the meetings held by His Highness with several Arab leaders on the sidelines of the session's meetings underscore the State of Qatar's interest and keenness to confer with the brothers on all bilateral, regional and international issues and boost cooperation towards better prospects in all fields.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the enormous efforts exerted by the sisterly People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to have a successful summit, pointing out that the summit's synchronization with the anniversary of the start of the Algerian revolution constituted an opportunity to inspire the meanings of unity, struggle, sacrifice and redemption for the sake of achieving the intended supreme goals, noting that such glorious revolution will remain a source of pride for all Arabs and the peoples seeking their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.

Al Ansari asserted that such summit was held in complex political and economic circumstances at the regional and international levels imposed by COVID-19 pandemic, Russian-Ukrainian crisis and developments in several Arab countries, especially in the occupied Arab territories, hoping that the summit outcomes would deal with all issues and challenges through the spirit of unity to achieve these intended goals.

He indicated that the Palestinian cause came at the forefront of the leaders' discussions since it is the central issue of the Arab nation, reaffirming, in this context, the utmost appreciation of the State of Qatar for Algeria for its role in patronizing the talks between the Palestinian factions culminating in the declaration of the reconciliation.

He added that the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the recurrent Israeli assaults on the defenseless Palestinian people, especially the children and women, along with the recurrent incursions into the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque, the unjust blockade on Gaza strip and the settlement expansion plans precipitate a unified and decisive Arab position to urge the international community to deter the occupation and compel it to abide by the international law and the international legitimacy resolutions, reaffirming the State of Qatar's firm position on the fairness of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and establishing their independent state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al Ansari indicated that the State of Qatar's support to the brotherly Palestinian people during the last decade, through Qatar Fund for Development and Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, exceeded $1.5 billion along with the contributions provided by the civil society institutions,emphasizing that the State of Qatar will proceed with carrying out its role in pursuit of alleviating the humanitarian suffering and fulfilling the urgent needs of the Palestinian brothers.

He stressed that the international developments, especially the Russian-Ukrainian crisis posed tremendous economic challenges that require an Arab solidarity to counter them with the food crisis coming at the forefront, adding that the summit's interest in drawing up strategies and plans for Arab food security reflects the joint willingness to deal with the enormous challenges.

He said that political and economic developments in some of Arab countries received great interest during the summit, pointing out that the Arab solidarity remains imperative at this critical juncture more than ever to help these countries regain stability and move forward to the development path, stressing that the State of Qatar will support everything that would achieve these purposes.

Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Dr. Majed Mohammed Al Ansari underlined that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament which is set to launch in November constitutes another opportunity to demonstrate the ability of Arabs to make impressive achievements, adding that the Arab region, which has been suffering from a stereotype for decades, will prove to the world through this major global event its ability to make positive impact and effective contribution to the cultural and civilized communication and promoting the values of love, tolerance and peace among the world peoples.
