Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Written Message from Canadian Minister of Immigration

Doha - Information Office - January 13

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, received a written message from HE Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser, in which he expressed his country's thanks and gratitude to the State of Qatar for its support and cooperation in delivering Canadian humanitarian aid to Kabul, and for its role in the evacuation of Afghan and Canadian citizens from Afghanistan.

In his message, HE Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship pointed out that the Government of the State of Qatar has made, over the past several months, efforts that have achieved remarkable goals by welcoming large numbers of Afghans who were forced to flee their country, adding that this generous response from the Government of the State of Qatar, including the provision of shelter, meals, health care, and specialized services for children, was greatly appreciated.

His Excellency also said that the support and cooperation of Qatari officials greatly contributed to the work of Canadian diplomatic staff in the process of transferring Afghan refugees to Canada, stressing that the success and achievement of such efforts would have been impossible without Qatar's support and the professional efforts provided by Qatari officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his message, HE Sean Fraser expressed his aspiration to work with officials in the State of Qatar, while such humanitarian efforts continue.
