The Assistant Foreign Minister Discusses Afghan Developments, Qatar-US Cultural Cooperation

HE Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater held separate meetings in Washington with US Acting Assistant Secretary Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Lisa Peterson, HE Senior Official for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Jennifer Hall Godfrey, HE US Senior Official Office of Global Womens Issues Katrina Fotovat, and HE US Senior Official Office of International Religious Freedom Daniel Nadel.
The meeting dealt with discussing bilateral cooperation, particularly on Afghanistan and facilitating the process of travel to and from the country. It also dealt with security, political, and economic conditions in Afghanistan. There was agreement on the importance of maintaining humanitarian support to the Afghan people, the importance of enhancing the right to education to all of the Afghan society, and working to protect women's rights in the country.
The meetings also dealt with the diplomatic efforts between the State of Qatar and the US, including the projects that could take place in the framework of the Qatar-US Year of Culture 2021.
The officials also welcomed the Shura Council elections taking place in Qatar today, describing it as a good step for the state.
