Qatar Participates in Opening Sessions of FAO Council

The State of Qatar participated in the opening sessions of the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), along with representatives of the member states of the FAO Council.

The State of Qatar was represented in the opening sessions by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki.

These meetings focus on the adoption of a number of important decisions related to combating the COVID-19 pandemic, food supplies in areas subject to food insecurity, the election of the new President of FAO Council, and the approval to anticipate the date of the next conference of the Organization to June 2021.

The Council will analyze financial issues of the Organization and its programs covering also the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meetings are scheduled to continue until April 30, 2021.
