Paris – Information Office – 07 April

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani met with the delegation of the French-Qatari Friendship Group in the French National Assembly, headed by HE Pascal Brando, HE Carole Bureau-Bonnard and a number of parliamentarians.

Bilateral cooperation relations were reviewed during the meeting, which was held within the framework of the existing strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the friendly French Republic.

HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani handed over a message to the Head of the French-Qatari Friendship Group to dispel concerns about the misinformation reported in the British newspaper The Guardian about the conditions of migrant workers in the State of Qatar.

The message affirms the State of Qatar's keenness to provide the best health and living conditions to all residents of various nationalities.

For their part, members of the French-Qatari Friendship Group in the French National Assembly hailed the country's ongoing preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the efforts made by the Qatari government to provide the highest standards of safety and security for the participants in the tournament.

The meeting coincided with the signing of a joint statement by Pascal Brando and a number of French MPs in which they stressed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is a landmark moment in the history of the region, as it will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world and in a Muslim country.

They also praised the efforts made by those in charge of organizing this global sporting event, and the achievements made by the State of Qatar in the field of developing labor legislation.
