The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Appoints Special Envoy for Climate Change and Sustainability

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani issued the ministerial decision No. 2 of 2021, appointing HE Bader Omar Ismail Al Dafa as Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability.

Al Dafa is currently the Executive Director of the Global Dryland Alliance (GDA), an international organization associated with food security that is based in the State of Qatar.

Al Dafa was also the State of Qatar's Ambassador in Madrid, Cairo, Paris, Moscow, Washington, as well as being the Non-Resident Ambassador to Switzerland, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Mexico, and the Permanent Delegate of the State of Qatar to the Arab League.

He also served as Head of the Department of European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Assistant UN Secretary General, and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

HE Bader Omar Al Dafa has a master's degree in international public policy, and bachelor's degree in political science and economics.
