Qatar's Ambassador to Germany: Al-Ula Declaration Put an End to Gulf Crisis

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani said that the declaration issued by Al-Ula summit put an end to the Gulf crisis, and was in line with the vision of the State of Qatar to resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation, and lay the foundation stone for a new future in the march of joint Gulf and Arab action based on understanding, mutual trust and joint action.

HE the Ambassador added, in an interview with (COSMO - Al-Saut Al-Arabi) radio in Berlin and Brandenburg radio (RBB) that the declaration embodies the real political will by all sides to resolve the crisis, which paves the way for the gradual return to pre-June 5, 2017 relations.

He stressed that the State of Qatar is committed to dialogue as the only effective tool to solve any problem.

In response to a question about the demand related to the closure of Al Jazeera channel, he said that Al Jazeera is a pioneering media institution that plays an exemplary role in covering events, not in making them, and in ensuring the freedom to transmit information and the opinion and the other opinion, adding that if any party has a problem with Al Jazeera, it is necessary to solve it with the board of directors of this channel, as it is a private institution.

HE the Ambassador hailed the Kuwaiti mediation efforts made by HH the late Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah which were completed by HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as the US support to put an end to this crisis.

On the existence of US interests to end the GCC crisis, he said that there is no doubt that the Gulf difference has impact on the security of the region, in addition to that its effects are reflected in other files that affect international security, adding that it is clear that the strong Gulf relations with Washington at various levels make it an important party in resolving the crisis.

The interview also dealt with the Qatari-German relations, where HE the Ambassador affirmed that the strong relationship between the two countries is based on the values of friendship, mutual respect and common interests, which has been translated into joint political initiatives, which helped for example in ending the war in Afghanistan and advancing intra-Afghan negotiations.

Responding to a question about Qatar's preparations to host FIFA World Cup 2022, HE the Ambassador affirmed that Qatar has completed more than 90% of the infrastructure projects for the event and is eagerly looking forward to welcoming fans from around the world.
