Qatari Ambassador: President Aoun's Visit Launches New Era For Bilateral Relations
Beirut/Information Office/10 January 2017/ Qatari ambassador to Lebanon HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri has underscored the importance of the visit of President of the Lebanese Republic General Michel Aoun to the State of Qatar on Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA) HE Ambassador Al Marri said that President Aoun had accepted the invitation extended by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to visit the State of Qatar, which was delivered by HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who visited Lebanon last November, following Gen Aoun's taking over as president of Lebanon.
HE the Ambassador Al Marri noted that the timing of the invitation was crucial as the spirit of reconciliation was now spreading among the Lebanese communities, adding that the visit would further boost the ties between Qatar and Lebanon and is a symbol of the fraternal relations between the two countries , where Qatar continuously works on supporting Lebanon's stability and peace.
He also said the meeting between the two countries' leaders is an opportunity to further enhance relations between Qatar and Lebanon all fields, especially political and economic areas in order to achieve mutual interests.
Al Marri pointed out that the Qatari - Lebanese relations have witnessed rapid positive development due to the wise guidance of HH the Emir and the Lebanese President's keenness to further strengthen relations with the State of Qatar.
He praised the clear plan of goals set by the two countries' leadership to help prosper the bilateral relations to the aspirations of the two countries' peoples.
The Ambassador referred to historical events that proof the strength of the relations especially at Lebanon's toughest times, noting Qatar's support which was reflected in prominent and the historical Doha agreement between Lebanese factions, in a reconciliation which was initiated and led by HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in 2008.
He also stressed Qatar's continued support to all the Lebanese citizens and constitutional institutions for the sake of Lebanon's stability prosperity and stability.
Al Marri said that during his tenure in Lebanon, he felt that all Lebanese political parties highly appreciate Qatar's efforts to maintain Lebanon's stability and prosperity.
Concluding, HE Ambassador Al Marri noted that Aoun's GCC visit and the return of political normalcy in Lebanon, would provide favorable atmosphere for better bilateral relations with the GCC, which will have positive impact ,on economic areas, hoping that Lebanon would return as the GCC's main tourism destination.
