Qatar is Co-chairing a High-level Pledging Conference to Support the Humanitarian Response to Sudan and the Region

The State of Qatar announces that it will co-chair a high-level conference to announce pledges to support the humanitarian response to Sudan and the region next Monday in Geneva. This pledging Event will be chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the United Nations, represented by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the European Union, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that since the beginning of the fighting in Sudan, the State of Qatar has provided 266 tons of food and medical aid, via an air bridge, and evacuated 1,784 Qatari residency holders. The Ministry also stresses that its co-chairmanship of this conference comes in the context of its continued support for the brotherly Sudanese people.

The Ministry reiterates the position of the State of Qatar calling for an immediate end to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, giving priority to the public interest, and sparing civilians the consequences of fighting. It also expresses the State of Qatar's aspiration that all parties pursue dialogue and peaceful ways to overcome differences. In addition, the Ministry affirms Qatar’s full support for all regional and international efforts to find a solution to the crisis.
