A high-level Meeting Discusses Aleppo Humanitarian Repercussions

Doha/Information Office/18 January 2017/ A high-level round table meeting on (innovative partnerships to discuss the humanitarian consequences in Aleppo) was held at the initiative by HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muriakhi, the UN envoy for Humanitarian Affairs, and organized by the Qatar Charity (QC) .

A statement issued by the meeting that the agenda of this round table comes after the worsening humanitarian situation in Aleppo and the launch of the State of Qatar campaign in support of the relief of the brotherly Syrian people in response to the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani.
The participants stressed the need for coordination and cooperation between national humanitarian organizations and humanitarian agencies of the United Nations in order to achieve an effective response to the needs of the victims of Aleppo crisis, and also to benefit from this experience to build an effective sustained collaborative framework between the two parties.
Participated in the meeting, were officials from the Qatari government represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Qatar’s Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities , senior officials from the Qatari humanitarian organizations that participated in the organization campaign in support of Aleppo, Qatar Charity, the Qatar Red Crescent, Sheikh Thani Ibn Abdullah for Humanitarian Services Foundation (RAF) and the Sheikh Eid Charity Foundation, Afif charity, along with UN agencies, represented by the Office of Coordination of humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for refugees, the World food Programme, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
