Foreign Ministry Organizes Panel Discussion on 'Middle East and Horn of Africa: Foreign Policy Trends'

The Department of Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized on Sunday a panel discussion entitled "the Middle East and Horn of Africa: Foreign Policy Trends" presented by experts of the International Crisis Group.

In his speech at the opening of the panel discussion, HE Director of Department of Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Fahad Al Khater addressed regional issues on the Middle East and North Africa, giving an analysis of regional trends of policymakers, the restructuring of the Middle East and global dynamics.

The International Crisis Group's experts discussed the most important regional issues in the Arab Gulf States, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, North Africa and the Horn of Africa, and were discussed by the directors of the political departments and their assistants and diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The panel discussion is part of the partnership agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Crisis Group, signed in March 2018.

On Saturday, the Department of Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a roundtable entitled "Qatar, the Middle East and the Horn of Africa: Opportunities and Challenges", in partnership with the International Crisis Group in collaboration with the Gulf Studies Center at Qatar University. International Crisis Group's experts met with professors from Qatar University and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies to discuss current issues related to the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.
