The State of Qatar participated in the 161st regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.

The State of Qatar's statement during the meeting highlighted that the Gaza Strip has undergoing an unparalleled barbaric war in terms of its brutality and international humanitarian law violations, with the Palestinians being subjected to murders, ethnic cleansing that amounts to genocide, and abhorrent racial discrimination that contradicts universal values and the human conscience.

Expressing appreciation to all the Arab positions supporting Palestinian people's rights, the statement affirmed the need for continuing and deepening these stances until the occupation is ended and the Palestinian people obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders as the only solution to end the conflict. The League of Arab States has adopted this solution since the Arab Peace Initiative was approved at the 2002 Arab League Summit in Beirut.

The State of Qatar's statement reiterated its calls for the international community, especially the Security Council, to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, and to oblige Israel to cease fire and return to the path of negotiations to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories, in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.

The statement stressed that the State of Qatar is keen to strengthen an effective Arab role, to achieve comprehensive Arab national security in various fields.
