HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani received today a video call from HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Costa Rica Rodolfo Solano Quiros.

The State of Qatar stressed Wednesday the important role digital technology is playing in facilitating human progress, and the big contribution it is making in enhancing and protecting human rights and basic freedoms, but noted that the same technologies could be used in ways that threaten cyber security with methods such as fake news and manipulating social media platforms.

The State of Qatar expressed Wednesday deep concern that journalists in the Arab world are being targeted for practicing the profession of journalism and for basically being women, in addition to being subjected to death, kidnapping and threat, as well as being defamed on social media platforms by the so-called social bugs of some countries.
