The Enrico Mestica School in the city of Macerata in the Italian Republic sent a letter of thanks to the State of Qatar for its contribution of 5.6 million euros for rebuilding of its school complex after the damage caused by the earthquake that struck the country in 2016.

In the letter, the teaching staff, students and their families extended their thanks to the State of Qatar for standing with them in this ordeal, pointing out that the geographical dimension between the two countries was not a barrier to the Qatari support, which was a message to them that they are not alone in this ordeal.

The letter underlined the great suffering by students in their transportation to the schools that were hosting them due to continuous earth shakes and the psychological effects on them. The Qatari support through the reconstruction of the complex had a great impact on the students and mitigated these effects.

The city of Macerata of the Italian Republic has celebrated the reopening of its school complex, after the damage caused by the earthquake that struck the country in 2016.

The reconstruction of the school is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and Italian Government to donate 5.6 million euros to rebuild areas destroyed by earthquake. QFFD witnessed the stone laying ceremony of the foundation of the school.

The school complex includes several basic facilities, including a nursery, primary and secondary schools, as well as a gymnasium. The complex was built on an area of 24,000 square meters.

This project aims to ensure that the right to education of the children of Macerata is preserved and the educational services are resumed. This project will restore the hope and confidence of the people who were victims of the earthquake misfortune. This step is ones of the steps that leads to achieve the sustainable development goals.
