The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Arab League and the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), will organize on Tuesday a high-level session within the preparations for the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family 2024, on "Platform for action for the family in the Arab region within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals: post-pandemic outcomes." This session will be held on the sidelines of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which is the main platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals on the global level.
The United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development was established in 2012 under the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20), "Future We Want," where the forum meets annually under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council for eight days, including the ministerial segment, which meets for three days. The Forum also holds a meeting every four years at the level of Heads of State and Government under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly for two days.
