Qatar Urges International Community To Shoulder Responsibility To End Israeli Occupation

Geneva/Information Office/ 09 March 2017/ The State of Qatar has renewed call on the international community to shoulder its responsibility and ethical duty to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and stop the ongoing aggressions, violations and massacres perpetrated against the Palestinian people, lifting the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
This came in the speech of the state of Qatar delivered by HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri before the "Interactive Dialogue with the High Commissioner for Human Rights on his Annual Report" within the agenda of the 34th Session of the Human Rights Council on Item ( 2).
HE Al Mansouri said that the Law legitimizing settlement adopted by the Israeli Knesset is considered as a flagrant violation of the relevant laws and international resolutions.He urged the international community to take all necessary action to prevent the implementation of this law and hold Israel accountable before the international criminal justice for its crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
The State of Qatar expresses its deep concern over the deteriorating situation of the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar, HE Al Mansouri said, calling for the cessation of all forms of discrimination and attacks against them; act urgently to address the massive human tragedy in which they live and work to reach a radical solution to their problems through a comprehensive peace settlement and a real dialogue.
International cooperation approach based on respect for diversity of cultures, religions and intellectual perspectives would enhance the human dignity and rights of the value regardless of any narrow interests and political positions, HE Al Mansouri said, stressing that these considerations would boost the Council's role as an optimal mechanism to address the considerable challenges taking place in our world today and achieve its noble goals for which it was established.
HE Al Mansouri thanked the High Commissioner for his statement, expressing satisfaction over the approach being implemented, which aims to enhance positive aspects of international practices in the field of promotion and protection of human rights.He also welcomed the High Commissioner's appreciation for Tunisia's ongoing efforts to put human rights at the heart of the political transition process and its constructive cooperation with the UNHCR Office, calling on the international community to provide support and assistance to the efforts of the Tunisian government at this crucial stage of democratic transition and building the Rule of Law.
