The State of Qatar has welcomed the call of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria for holding a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Ministers Council of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), as an important step to activate the joint Arab action.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's hope that the upcoming meeting would revive the AMU in order to achieve the objectives set forth in its founding treaty, which would contribute to closer ties between Member States and realize the aspirations of their peoples.
