The State of Qatar welcomes the signing of a short-term ceasefire agreement and humanitarian arrangements by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the aspiration of the State of Qatar that the agreement will pave the way for a permanent cessation of the military conflict, and then engage in broad negotiations, in which all Sudanese political forces will participate, in order to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for stability, development and prosperity.

The Ministry reiterates the position of the State of Qatar calling for an immediate cessation to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint and resorting to the voice of reason, and giving priority to the public interest. 

The Ministry also expresses the appreciation of the State of Qatar for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America in reaching this agreement, and their good offices to end the conflict and achieve stability in Sudan.
