Qatar strongly condemns the storming and vandalism of its Embassy building in Khartoum

The State of Qatar condemns in the strongest terms the storming and vandalism of its Embassy building in Khartoum by irregular armed forces. At the same time, it confirms that the Embassy staff have been previously evacuated, and none of the diplomats or Embassy staff were subjected to any harm.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the need to spare embassies, diplomatic missions, headquarters of international organizations and civilian facilities from the consequences of fighting ongoing in Sudan. It also stresses the need to prosecute the perpetrators and hold them accountable for the consequences of this heinous criminal act, which represents a violation of international law and agreements.

The Ministry reiterates the position of the State of Qatar calling for an immediate cessation to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, giving priority to the public interest, and sparing civilians the consequences of fighting. The Ministry also expresses the aspiration of the State of Qatar that all the parties shall adopt dialogue and peaceful means to overcome their differences.
