Qatar Strongly Condemns Assassination Attempt Against Afghan Vice President

The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the assassination attempt against First Vice-President of Afghanistan Abdul Rashid Dostum, in which four of his bodyguards were killed and six others were injured.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of the motives and causes. It considered the attempt an unaccepted criminal act, stressed the importance of arresting those involved in it and bringing them to justice

The statement affirmed Qatar's full support for all efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan and realizing the aspirations of its people for stability, development and prosperity.

It further expressed the State of Qatar's condolences to the families of the victims and the Government and people of Afghanistan, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
