Qatar Expresses Deep Concern Over Recent Military Escalation in Libya

Doha – Information Office – 04 April

The State of Qatar confirmed that it has been following the recent military escalation in Libya with great concern, noting that this escalation comes shortly before the convening of the Libyan National Conference, and thus threatens to undermine the path of the UN-backed political solution.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that the State of Qatar warns of sliding into chaos and insecurity in western Libya, which will have serious repercussions on the political process and the ability of institutions in those areas to protect citizens stir their lives and to contain the problem of migration and human trafficking.

According to the statement, the State of Qatar reminded regional and international actors that this escalation might have a disastrous impact on the entire region, including Europe, and calls for exercising influence to stop the recent attacks on western Libya, which is a clear violation of the UN agreement.

The statement called on all parties in Libya to shoulder their responsibility towards the Libyan people, who aspire for peaceful solution and prioritizing national dialogue over military options and the interest of the Libyan nation over individual ones.
