Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stresses Qatar's Commitment to Supporting Stability, Development in Lebanon and Strengthening Joint Cooperation

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi stressed that the State of Qatar continues its firm commitment to stand by Lebanon and its fraternal people, and to strengthen the frameworks of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, in a way that contributes to supporting the path of stability and development in Lebanon and the region.
This came in a joint press conference held on Monday with HE Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Dr. Tarek Mitri on the occasion of the State of Qatar's announcement of providing development and humanitarian support to Lebanon with a total value of USD 434,248,000, benefiting more than 1.5 million people, through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and in coordination with the relevant Lebanese authorities.
HE Dr. Al Khulaifi said that the visit to Beirut today comes as a confirmation of the State of Qatar's firm and unwavering stance in standing by Lebanon and its fraternal people, especially in light of the delicate circumstances and current challenges facing the region.
His Excellency indicated that the meetings and discussions held with Lebanese officials were constructive, and addressed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them in various fields, in addition to exchanging views on the latest political and security developments, and reviewing prospects for economic and investment cooperation in a way that serves the paths of prosperity and development in Lebanon and the region in general.
His Excellency affirmed that the stability of Lebanon is a fundamental pillar for the stability of the entire region, stressing Qatar's full support for all efforts aimed at strengthening the role of Lebanese state institutions and consolidating its internal stability. He called for always prioritizing the language of direct dialogue and putting the supreme national interest first among all parties in order to achieve the aspirations of the Lebanese people for security and prosperity.
His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar's commitment to its brothers in Lebanon is not merely a passing political or humanitarian commitment, but rather an embodiment of the deep-rooted bonds of fraternity that unite the two brotherly peoples. It is not limited to the political aspect alone, but extends to include developmental, humanitarian and economic aspects, and supporting and developing basic services and strengthening the foundations of recovery.
His Excellency highlighted that the directives of the wise leadership will continue to make the State of Qatar a supportive partner for everything that fulfills the aspirations of the Lebanese people to live in dignity and security, away from the dangers of unrest and instability, and to strengthen the pillars of renaissance and development whose features have begun to take shape on the ground.
HE Dr. Al Khulaifi affirmed Qatar's continued support for the Lebanese Army as a pivotal national institution, indicating that the State of Qatar has supported this institution over the past years, including supporting the salaries of army personnel during the past four years, providing fuel during the last three years, and supplying 162 vehicles to enhance the army's capabilities and enable it to perform its national duties in accordance with its needs, while emphasizing that this support continues as it is a fundamental pillar for the security and stability of Lebanon.
On the political side, His Excellency stressed the centrality of the efforts made by the Quintet Group in supporting Lebanon, explaining the continuation of joint and close work with Qatar's partners to ensure the coordination of efforts supporting Lebanon's stability, preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supporting recovery and development paths.
In the same context, His Excellency noted the need for the parties to commit to implementing Security Council Resolution 1,701, and to respect the full sovereignty of the Republic of Lebanon over its territory, and reiterated Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, stressing the need for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to stop these violations and maintain the stability of Lebanon.
In turn, HE Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Dr. Tarek Mitri said that the relationship between the State of Qatar and Lebanon is close and deeply rooted, noting the key role that Qatar played in 2006 in supporting Lebanon on various levels, whether through political support, or through Qatari mediation at that stage, or through contributing to the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the Israeli war on Lebanon.
HE Dr. Tarek Mitri added that the State of Qatar has remained, before and after that, a supporter of Lebanon, and continues to support it, especially on the political level, by supporting the legitimate rights of the Lebanese people, foremost among which is affirming Lebanon's sovereignty over all its territories and liberating it from occupation.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon affirmed that Qatar's political stance often coincides with support for various aspects of public life in Lebanon, particularly the ongoing support for the Lebanese army, expressing the Lebanese government and people's deep gratitude to the State of Qatar for its continued support for Lebanon and its people.
