Qatar Strongly Condemns Houthi Attack on Saudi Arabia's Taif Governorate
Doha | September 17, 2026
The State of Qatar strongly condemns a Houthi drone attack on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that produced civilian casualties.
Earlier in the day, Saudi civil defense said debris from an intercepted drone had killed one civilian and wounded two others in Taif governorate. It also caused material damage to several buildings and vehicles.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounces the attack in the strongest possible terms, and describes it as a "shameful" act of aggression and "disregard" of civilians' lives.
The attack constitutes a "blatant" breach of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a violation of the rules of international law.
The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with Riyadh and that it would support all legitimate measures the Kingdom would take to preserve its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and interests.
The Ministry also emphasizes that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of that of the State of Qatar and the collective security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The State of Qatar carries condolences to the family of the deceased and wishes of speedy recovery to those injured.
