Joint Press Conference between H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. the minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
At the outset, I would like to welcome my brother, His Excellency Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Türkiye, on his visit to Doha today. This visit comes within the framework of the ongoing consultations between our two countries. It also takes place amid the critical circumstances facing the region, particularly the war in Iran, as well as the developments in the Strait of Hormuz and the issue of freedom of navigation, which, regrettably, has recently been utilized as a weapon in this conflict.
Today, we discussed the latest developments related to this war and the repercussions of the current crisis on the Gulf states, particularly the economic impact of the conflict on the countries of the Gulf region. We also addressed other regional files, including the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip, especially the continued Israeli measures involving the bombardment of civilians, the ongoing policy of forced displacement in Gaza, the failure to comply with the implementation of the agreement, and the obstruction of the unconditional entry of humanitarian assistance, with humanitarian aid being used as a tool of political blackmail.
In addition, we discussed the disregarding the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and the continued Israeli strikes targeting villages and residential neighbourhoods, as well as the repeated threats issued by the Israeli side to the brotherly Lebanese people, calling for innocent civilians to evacuate their homes.
The region is undoubtedly passing through extremely delicate circumstances that require us to maintain continuous consultation among sisterly and friendly nations. Türkiye stands at the forefront of our partners with whom we coordinate closely on these matters.
With regard to the war involving Iran, Qatar and Türkiye jointly support the Pakistani mediation efforts and the initiatives undertaken by the brotherly Islamic Republic of Pakistan aimed at reaching a resolution to this war, securing a ceasefire agreement, bringing this conflict to an end as swiftly as possible, reopening the Strait, and restoring the normal flow of maritime navigation.
We also continue to coordinate with our partners and brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council states and the countries of the region in order to reach the most appropriate framework capable of restoring stability to the region once again.
There is no doubt that numerous issues will need to be resolved through diplomatic means with the Iranian side in the future.
Furthermore, bilateral relations between Qatar and Türkiye are characterized by resilience, strength, and a robust partnership. Over the past years, these relations have been developed under the guidance and vision of the leaderships of both countries. We continuously seek to coordinate with our brothers in Türkiye across all fields, whether in geopolitical affairs, military cooperation, economic matters, energy, or various other sectors.
Once again, I welcome you, my dear brother, Your Excellency the Minister. We appreciate the important discussions that took place between us today, and we look forward to the continuation of close coordination between our two countries and our respective official institutions.
