Qatar Participates in the International Development Law Organization General Assembly Meetings in Rome

The State of Qatar took part in the meetings of the General Assembly of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), held at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by HE Qatar's Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the UN Agencies in Rome, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki.

In a speech, HE Ambassador Al Malki thanked the members of the International Development Law Organization, which is an intergovernmental organization that has consultative status with the United Nations, for accepting the accession of the State of Qatar to its membership.

HE the Ambassador praised the role of the Organization in enabling States to reform and strengthen their legal institutions and legislative systems to achieve justice and dignity, strengthen the work of the courts and facilitate access to them and adhere to the highest standards of the rule of law.

He added that the accession of the State of Qatar to the Organization came in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the importance and necessity of realization of a prompt justice and the development of the legislative and legal system to keep pace with the rapid developments in the world in all fields.

HE the Minister underlined that the State of Qatar is keen to support the international system in all that would consolidate the principle of the rule of law, achieve a prompt justice and provide the appropriate environment for security, peace and social justice. HE the Ambassador gave example on Qatar's keenness on this partnership, noting that Qatar's Second National Development Strategy 2018-2022 included a new chapter on international cooperation named "Global Partnerships for Development" aiming at strengthening the role of Qatar at all regional and international levels, raise the level of International partnerships, strengthening the status of the State of Qatar regionally and internationally and contribute effectively to building regional and international peace and security.

"We seek and aim to achieve global partnership and solidarity in activating the role of international and regional organizations. The State of Qatar will not abandon its role recognized by all countries, because we believe in the institutional international action and the need to join efforts in the promotion of just international issues and helping governments and peoples in the development and modernization of their legal system, both institutional or legislative aspects, with particular attention to human rights," HE the Ambassador said.

HE the Ambassador noted that Qatar's experience is pioneering in this area, where the State is working to achieve all development plans at all levels, especially the "Qatar National Vision 2030" which aims to transform Qatar into a developed country capable of achieving sustainable development and ensuring the continuation of decent living for its people, generation after generation, believing that comprehensive development is the primary goal of achieving progress and prosperity.

The State of Qatar has become a full member of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) which is dedicated to the development of judicial systems and training lawyers in the developing countries.
