Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Praises Qatar's Support for Renovation of Hall at UN Palace

HE Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya praised the generous support provided by the State of Qatar to the United Nations and the UN Palace in Geneva to renovate Hall 19 at the UN Palace in Geneva.

In a speech during the inauguration ceremony, HE the Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva said that the renovation of the Hall was the result of the generosity of the State of Qatar which aimed to express its commitment to support the organization's international efforts to preserve and modernize the United Nations premises. She looked forward that the Hall will host future meetings of the international community as part of its efforts to find lasting solutions to current and future challenges.

She highlighted the quality of the renovation works of the Hall, which were carried out according to the most modern technology and facilities. She expected that everyone will admire the magnificent design of the Hall which was based on the Arab desert as an inspiration, making it the only room that has such unique designs.

HE the Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva added that the Hall is accessible to wheelchair users and includes special booths for sign language interpreters, which is indeed a great addition to the United Nations Palace in Geneva and a promotion to multilateral diplomacy.

Her Excellency believed that the Hall will host very important discussions of world issues. She expressed her special thanks and the appreciation of the United Nations to the government and people of the State of Qatar for their efforts to provide the organization with this Hall.
