UN Welcomes Qatar's Hosting of 5th Conference on Least Developed Countries in 2021

United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) expressed appreciation and welcome for the State of Qatar's hosting of the fifth United Nations (UN) Least Developed Countries Conference in Doha in 2021.

This was stated in a resolution unanimously adopted by the ECOSOC.

A number of Heads of State and Government are scheduled to participate in the Conference.

HE Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu, the UN Under-Secretaries-General and High Representative for UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, had earlier expressed deep appreciation to the Government of the State of Qatar for its generous offer to host the fifth UN Least Developed Countries Conference in Doha.

In turn, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Ambassador Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani underlined that the State of Qatar's hosting of this conference and the series of international conferences and meetings hosted by Doha, reaffirms the commitment of the State of Qatar to support the least developed countries and to continue its role in the international community.
