Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Italian Prime Minister

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on Monday with HE Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giuseppe Conti, during his visit to Italy.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing and developing them, as well as issues of common concern, especially the situation in Libya.

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's concern about the serious military escalation led by General Haftar, pointing out that such actions do not take into account the supreme national interest of the Libyan people and will have serious repercussions at the local and international levels.

HE Foreign Minister stressed the need for the military militias to respect international law and the Security Council resolutions and immediately stop all attempts to obstruct efforts to complete the Libyan dialogue.

In a joint statement, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and HE the Italian Prime Minister stressed the importance of international coordination to support coexistence, peace, and stability in Libya for the benefit of the Libyan people and putting Libyan interest above all considerations.
