Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: There Is Diplomatic Movement in the Direction of Holding GCC Meeting in September

HE Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah Al Khater said that the 2nd Qatari-US Strategic Dialogue, to be held Sunday in Doha, aims to strengthen cooperation with the important American ally and develop Qatari-US relations which are strong and built on common values and mutual respect.

In remark to QNA, Her Excellency explained that the dialogue which reviews the overall Qatari-US relations is co-chaired by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, adding that the Dialogue is held with the participation of a lineup of government officials from both sides.

The Qatari-US strategic dialogue will include high-level discussions on a number of political, economic, defense and cultural spheres and will witness the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that enhance cooperation in the interests of the Qatari and US peoples, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The first strategic dialogue was held in January 2018 in the United States and issued a joint statement stressing the commitment of the two friendly countries to promote bilateral trade and discuss bilateral investment frameworks that address tax policies and reduce regulatory obstacles. The two sides also signed a number of agreements, MoUs and letters of intent in the fields of trade, investment, technology, energy and cooperation in the sectors of sport, education, health, arts and culture.
