Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets UN Secretary-General

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with HE the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.

The meeting discussed means of enhancing joint cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United Nations in areas of mutual interest, and reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister briefed the Secretary-General on all illegal measures taken against the State of Qatar, their grave consequences for regional and international security and peace and their impact on human rights. He referred to the recent report of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights which described the measurers taken by the siege countries as arbitrary and affecting human rights. He praised the great role played by UN organizations in the establishment of public rights and the establishment of justice and stability.

During the meeting, His Excellency also reviewed the messages of the State of Qatar which alerted the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the UN to violations of Qatar's airspace by the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting was attended by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani.
