UN Office on Drugs and Crime Chief Hails Qatar's Anti-corruption Role

HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, the State of Qatar's ambassador to the Republic of Austria and permanent representative to the U.N. organizations in Vienna, met HE U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime Executive Director, Yury Fedotov.

The meeting reviewed means of enhancing ties between the State of Qatar and the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, particularly in relation to the progress made in the Global Program for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, which is funded by the State of Qatar and benefits more than 100 countries, mainly developing and least developed countries.

HE Fedotov reiterated during the meeting his gratitude for the support the State of Qatar provides to the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, highlighting the importance of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, which, he said, helps in encouraging the fight against such a plague and reaching initiatives to combat it at the global level.

For his part, HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani expressed the State of Qatar's thanks and appreciation to HE Fedotov for his active participation in the distribution ceremony of HH the Emir's award to the winners in Geneva.
