HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Wednesday held via telephone a conversation with HE President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.

The telephone conversation reviewed developments in Jerusalem, particularly in relation to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as a capital of Israel and move the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv.

HH the Emir reiterated the State of Qatar's firm position towards the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative, which is based on the two-state solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian president thanked HH the Emir for his constant support for the Palestinian issue and the fraternal Palestinian people as well as for the State of Qatar's efforts and firm stances towards the just Palestinian cause.
