UN General Assembly Re-elects Qatar for Human Rights Council

The United Nations General Assembly, at its 72nd Session has re-elected the State of Qatar to the United Nations Human Rights Council by 155 votes for the State of Qatar from 193 votes and for a fourth round of three-year term for 2018-2020.

The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations has conducted an intensive diplomatic campaign among the States Members of the United Nations.

The re-election of the State of Qatar comes for its active and pioneering role in the field of the protection and promotion of human rights at the international level through its active membership in the Human Rights Council in three terms, as well as hosting the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region .
