Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari announced that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani would begin a tour on Tuesday that includes the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom as part of a tour carried out by a number of Minister of Foreign Affairs of fraternal countries to a number of permanent members of the UN Security Council to push for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Al Ansari said that the tour comes in implementation of the mandate decision issued by the extraordinary joint Islamic-Arab summit in Riyadh on Nov. 11 to formulate international action to stop the war raging in Gaza.
Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that this initiative, which is undertaken on behalf of all member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, aims to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, exert pressure to launch a serious and genuine political process to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace in accordance with established international references, and to take deterrent measures to stop the crimes of the colonial occupation authorities against humanity, while ensuring urgent relief corridors to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
He said that besides HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Arab-Islamic initiative would see the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, along with the Foreign Ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Palestine, the Republic of Turkiye, the Republic of Indonesia, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well a the Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Secretary-General of the OIC.
