QBA, Spain's CEOE Sign MoU

Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of Employers and Industries of Spain (CEOE), during a meeting held Wednesday via videoconferencing.

HE Chairman of QBA Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani and HE President of CEOE Antonio Garamendi signed the MoU.

The meeting was attended by high-level officials. From the Qatari side, HE Assistant Undersecretary for Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Saleh bin Majid Al Khulaifi, HE Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Salem bin Abdullah Al Jaber, and HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Spain Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, in addition to their Excellencies, businessmen and entrepreneurs QBA members attended the meeting.

From the Spanish side, HE Secretary of State for Global Spain (SEEG) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain Manuel Muniz, HE Secretary of State for Trade at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain Xiana Mendez, and HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the State of Qatar Belen Alvaro, in addition to the entrepreneurs and members of CEOE.

During the meeting, it was agreed to launch a joint Qatari-Spanish business council that includes elite companies in the two countries, headed by HE Chairman of QBA Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani and HE Chief Executive Officer of Iberdrola Jose Ignacio Sanchez Galan. They also agreed to enhance direct contact between entrepreneurs in the two countries through exchange of visits and expanding joint cultural, technical, and scientific cooperation.

The participants in the meeting emphasized the importance of the signed memorandum of understanding in promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.
