Foreign Minister Meets Serbian Counterpart

Belgrade/Information Office/30 January 2017/ Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, met on Monday with HE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of boosting and developing them on all fronts, in addition to a set of issues of mutual interest.
The two sides signed during the meeting a memorandum of understanding to establish political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
In a joint press conference with the Serbian minister, HE the foreign minister stressed the keenness of the wise leadership in Qatar and Serbia to develop bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in all fields.
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said his visit to Belgrade reaffirms the sincere keenness of the wise leadership in both countries to promote bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of economy.
He said that his meetings with the Serbian president, the prime minister, the first deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, and the speaker of the parliament focused on boosting cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, security, the refugee crisis and increasing trade exchange between the two countries, adding that the meetings touched on current issues in the Arab region and mechanisms for both countries to support each other in international platforms.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman hailed the successful visit of the Serbian president to Doha last November, noting that the visit culminated in the signing of five agreements that are key for enhancing cooperation and deepening bilateral ties in the fields of economy, agriculture, culture and sport. He added that the two countries will work to interpret the outcomes of the visit on the ground and create more mutual commercial opportunities.
HE the foreign minister praised the Serbian government's intention to create an ideal atmosphere for the attraction of investments, saying that the government has shown great determination to make successful the projects and partnerships that have been offered to the Serbian market, underlining this as a sign of the Serbian government's credibility and support for foreign investment.
