Qatar Reiterates Condemnation of Israeli Decision to Demolish Al-Khan Al-Ahmar Village

Geneva – Information Office – 24 September

The State of Qatar has reiterated its condemnation of the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to demolish the Palestinian village of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar and forcibly deport its inhabitants to change its demographic and historical identity.

This came in the speech delivered by HE Hassan Ahmed Al Hammadi, Third Secretary of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, at the current 39th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council within the context of the general debate on the situation of human rights in Palestine and in the other occupied Arab territories .

The State of Qatar stressed that the demolition of the village and the forcible deportation of its inhabitants reflect the continuation of illegal settlement policies, which constitute a grave violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the relevant Security Council resolutions, and amount to war crimes.

It also strongly condemned the "Jewish National Law" issued by the Israeli Knesset recently, as a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions, enshrining racism and seeking to undermine the rights, freedom and independence of the Palestinian people and undermining the remaining hopes in the peace process and the two-state solution.

The State of Qatar underscored the importance of the seventh item in the work of the Council, especially with the insistence of the Israeli entity "the occupying force" to continue its racist policies, violations and crimes against the Palestinian people, stressing that the boycott of this item will encourage the Israeli entity to continue to violate the related international laws, and reinforces its sense of being above the law and not to be accountable.

The State of Qatar called upon the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to provide urgent international protection to the Palestinian people and to pressure Israel, (the occupying force), to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy, end the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories and stop the settlement policy, as well as to resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees, demanding accountability of all those responsible for violations and crimes against the Palestinian people.

The State of Qatar, in conclusion, reiterated its firm support for the Palestinian people and its just cause, to regain all its rights and to establish its independent State with full sovereignty over the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
